What seemed like the hottest weekend of the year so far was also the most fun and enjoyable for a group of young people from YMCA South Molton…
SPREE SW is a popular camping and activity weekend run by South West Youth Ministries for young people aged between 8 and 17 and this year we took two of our young people and children’s groups.
The weekend consisted of a host of activities including 5-A-Side football, with our amazingly talented Finley scoring the winning goal (!), as well as kayaking, mountain biking, inflatables, laser tag, arts, crafts and a scavenger hunt which put our resources to the test!
We also enjoyed late night movies, silent discos, a water fight, silent discos and SPREE’s Got Talent, where our lovely Beth sang a stunning rendition of Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’.
Our young people also took part in a spiritual programme where they played games, enjoyed rapping from DJ JOZZY and listened to interactive talks about what it means to be a Christian.
SPREE SW was absolutely fantastic with every young person already wanting to sign up for next year, when it moves to Westpoint, next to the M5 in Exeter.
A huge thank you from everyone at YMCA South Molton who helped us set up, drove the kids over and the leaders that stayed for the weekend, without your help SPREE wouldn’t have been as big a success as it was. And finally, an even bigger thank you to our young people who behaved exceptionally and threw themselves into the whole experience.
See you next year!
